** Call to Action **

80 Years of Financial Colonialism Are Enough! Cancel the Debt!

IMF & World Bank Annual Meetings October 21-26 2024

Indigenous Resistance Day - October 12

Thomas Sankara Day - October 15

Hit the streets with us and take action from October 12-26! We stand united in demanding debt cancellation for the Global South and fight against financial colonialism. Actions will take place across the globe, so join us as we rally to ignite real change for social, ecological and climate justice and begin to dismantle the structures of exploitation.

We begin on October 12th, which has been reappropriated as International Day of Indigenous Resistance by many countries, and on 15th October, in the memory of Thomas Sankara who was killed on that day for denouncing the colonial nature of global debt policies.

We will target the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank directly during their annual meetings in Washington DC, where they mark their 80th anniversary, taking place 21-26 October.

For eight decades, the Bretton Woods Institutions have entrenched financial colonialism, exacerbating the climate crisis and perpetuating social injustices through their economic dominance over the Global South.

As the climate crisis intensifies, the need for immediate debt cancellation becomes ever more urgent to enable real climate justice. Climate justice demands debt cancellation!

Alongside these multilateral creditors, private entities like BlackRock are also deepening the debt crisis and ensnaring Global South countries in a debt trap driven solely by profit motives. It's time to cancel their debt to pave the way for a self-determined, just transition!

JOIN US IN TAKING ACTION: We're uniting globally to stand against the IMF, the World Bank, BlackRock, and all other Global North predator creditors that are exploiting the lives and livelihoods of the Global South, and honouring the days of Indigenous Resistance Day and Thomas Sankara Day.
